Air Fryer Time & Temperature Calculator
Last updated: 2026-06-25
Most foods cook well at 180-200°C (360-390°F); vegetables and fish at 170-180°C, and reheating around 160°C. Enter the food and weight to get the recommended temperature and cooking time.
For larger amounts, add time and shake or flip once partway through to cook evenly. The values shown are estimates.

Air fryers vary a lot by capacity, manufacturer, and airflow design. At first, cook 2-3 minutes shorter than the shown time, then check and add more. Meat and fish must be cooked through to the center to be safe.
How to use
- Select a food — Choose the food you want to cook from the list.
- Enter the weight — Enter the amount to cook in grams (g).
- View the result — The recommended temperature, cooking time, when to flip, and whether to preheat are shown.
Air fryer time & temperature chart by food
Below are recommended temperatures and cooking times at a reference weight for foods people make often. As the weight increases, add time gradually and spread the food in a single layer to cook evenly. For a more detailed chart by food, see the Air Fryer Time & Temperature Chart guide.
| Food | Temp | Reference weight | Time | Flip |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Frozen dumplings | 180°C | 300g | 12 min | Once midway |
| Frozen french fries | 200°C | 300g | 15 min | 1-2 times midway |
| Frozen chicken nuggets | 190°C | 300g | 12 min | Once midway |
| Chicken wings | 200°C | 400g | 18 min | Once midway |
| Pork belly | 200°C | 400g | 14 min | Once midway |
| Fish (mackerel, etc.) | 180°C | 300g | 13 min | Once midway |
| Shrimp | 180°C | 200g | 8 min | Once midway |
| Sweet potato (whole) | 200°C | 400g | 30 min | Once midway |
| Potato wedges | 190°C | 400g | 20 min | 1-2 times midway |
| Toast | 170°C | 120g | 5 min | None |
| Reheat pizza | 160°C | 200g | 5 min | None |
The higher the temperature, the faster the outside crisps but the inside may be undercooked; cooking longer at a lower temperature cooks the inside through and tender. For thick foods like a whole sweet potato, allow plenty of time and flip partway through.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What temperature is usually right for an air fryer?
Most foods cook well at 180-200°C (360-390°F). Frozen fried foods and chicken do well at 180-200°C, vegetables and fish at 170-180°C (340-360°F), and bread or reheating around 160°C (320°F). To crisp the outside, you can raise the temperature 10-20°C for just the last 2-3 minutes.
Is preheating necessary?
It depends on the model, but preheating for 2-4 minutes makes the outside crispier and reduces unevenness. Frozen foods are often fine without preheating, but for meat and fish that need a quickly seared surface, preheating is recommended.
How much longer should I cook a larger amount?
This calculator scales the time when the amount is more than the reference weight, but does so gently so it does not jump too much at once. Spread the food in a single layer, and for large amounts shake or flip once partway through to cook evenly.
Are the displayed temperature and time accurate?
The values shown are estimates based on general standards. Air fryers vary a lot by capacity, manufacturer, and airflow design, so cook 2-3 minutes shorter than the shown time at first, then check and add more. For meat and fish, checking the internal temperature is the safest.
